Dorian Jones, M.D., is one of the gastroenterologists on staff at the Digestive Health Institute. Recently, he was featured on Lansing LIVES! as part of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.
Dr. Jones discussed what trends medical professionals are seeing in the frequency of colorectal cancer. He also shared tips for preventing the disease and stressed the importance of recommended screening in the form of a colonoscopy once you reach age 45. Early detection and treatment are your best defenses when it comes to preventing and treating colorectal cancer, and colorectal is highly survivable when caught and treated early on.
Finally, Dr. Jones shared with the audience everything they should expect before, during, and after a colonoscopy, emphasizing that patients should not expect any pain or discomfort as a result of the procedure.
